One way people enjoy using Essential Oils is to Inhale them.
This very popular way to use essential oils is often referred to as aromatherapy.
Aromas are the most powerful ways to bring back memories or help you feel calmer and safe.
Inhalation of essential oils heightens the senses and can trigger many desired responses in the body, mind and emotions.
Here are just some of the many ways to get the benefits of using essential oils for aromatherapy:
- Simply smell them from the bottle or cap. Move the bottle away while exhaling to keep the bottle as pure as possible. You may use alternate nostril breathing while inhaling from the bottle.
- Place a few drops of an essential oil on a cloth or cotton ball and carry in a pocket or purse during the day, or place it under a pillow at night.
- You can add essential oils to bath water. When adding an essential oil to your bath water, it is best to add the essential oi to a pure liquid soap or bath salts, then into the water. It disperses/emulsifies better than adding directly to water.
- Use a special tea light candle burner underneath a small ceramic bowl filled with pure water. Place a few drops of essential oil in the water. It will then vaporize into the room. Using a candle or heat to diffuse will provide aroma, but may alter or damage the healing properties of the essential oil.
- Essential oils can be diffused using a variety of commercial cold-air diffusers. This is the best method for healing purposes.
- Fill a humidifier with water and place a small cloth that you have sprinkled a few drops of essential oil on in front of where the steam exits.
- Carefully pour hot water into a small bowl and add a few drops of essential oil. Cover your head with a towel and lean over the bowl, breathing slowly and deeply.
